Hagerstown Aviation Museum Presents
“Aviation Heritage Days” June 19 & 20
featuring Wings & Wheels Car Show, 50s/60s Dance, Aircraft Displays, Vintage Aircraft Flights
(HAGERSTOWN, MD — June 10, 2010) The Hagerstown Aviation Museum will hold “Aviation Heritage Days” at the Hagerstown Regional Airport on Saturday and Sunday, June 19 & 20
- Saturday, June 19

- Saturday, June 19 “Wings & Wheels Car Show” 10am–3pm All types of collectable cars and trucks are welcome. The first 100 registered vehicles will receive commemorative dash plaques. See antiques, classics, muscle cars, imports, exotics and military vehicles. Competing vehicles $10 advance registration, $15 at the gate.
- Also planned for Saturday are fly-bys of museum aircraft featuring Fairchild PT-19’s and other vintage planes.
- At 3:00 pm on Saturday over 40 trophies will be awarded. Trophies are sponsored by the Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
- “Hangar Hop” 50s/60s Dance 8pm–11pm. Features the music of “The Shades.” Dance performances by “The Lindy Hoppers,” vintage cars on display, prize drawings and refreshments. Tickets $10 advance, $15 at the door. Order tickets online at www.hagerstownaviationmuseum.org or call 301-733-8717
- Sunday, June 20
- “Aviation Heritage Day” 9am – 4pm Celebrate Father’s Day at the Airport. This special day will feature museum displays throughout the grounds as well as other privately owned vintage aircraft.
- At 2:00 pm museum board member and former NASA Associate Administrator, Sam Venneri, will present “Aeronautic Advancements: Past, Present & Future” with exclusive video, photographs and artifacts from his many years in aerospace design and manufacturing and as Chief Technologist and Director of Flight at NASA.
- The “Pegasus RC Club” will have giant scale model RC aircraft on display.
- Other aviation businesses and organizations will also have displays.
- The day’s events will conclude with a special aerial demonstration featuring the “Hagerstown Aviation Heritage Flight” with Hagerstown built Fairchild airplanes and other vintage aircraft in the air to commemorate Hagerstown and Washington County’s rich aviation heritage! Bring your camera!
Both days will feature the museum’s Fairchild Aircraft collection and exhibits, family fun and much more. See three unique aircraft recently donated to the museum. The museum’s Fairchild C-82 and C-119 Flying Boxcar will be open for visitors during the weekend. See the three museum Fairchild PT-19’s and PT-26 that will be on display along with the museum’s 1928 Kreider Reisner KR-31, T-6 Texan, Fairchild SM-73 Goose Decoy and also visiting aircraft. See fly-bys of museum aircraft featuring the Fairchild PT-19 and other vintage planes. Museum books, DVDs, Hats, T-shirts and other items will be available for purchase.

Food and drinks will be available with proceeds benefiting the Maugansville Volunteer Fire Company and the Hagerstown Aviation Museum.
