Air Methods Maryland to Host Media Open House at Hagerstown Regional Airport

(Hagerstown, MD — November 18, 2009) Air Methods Maryland, an air medical transport company, will begin operating a medical helicopter from Hagerstown Regional Airport Center. Media are invited to tour the helicopter and facility, and speak with local management, the flight crew, and the program’s medical director about this valuable resource to the community.

Air Methods Maryland is owned and operated by Air Methods Corporation based in Englewood, Colorado, which has air medical operations in 42 states and more than 300 helicopter and fixed wing aircraft.
The Hagerstown air medical program will operate an EC135 helicopter. This model is equipped with the latest safety technologies including night vision goggles, terrain avoidance warning systems, and satellite weather, navigation and tracking systems. The aircraft also is capable of flying under instrument flight rules (IFR).
The air medical program will be staffed with four pilots, eight medical crew (flight nurses and paramedics), and one mechanic, and will be in service 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. Air Methods Maryland is looking forward to a partnership with EMS agencies and hospitals that serve the area.
